Laura L. Thornton is a six-year resident of Washington, D.C. She holds a master’s degree in multimedia journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park; a master’s degree in architectural history from the University of Virginia; and a bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College, where she majored in architectural studies and minored in music. She specializes in writing about architecture, art, design, historic preservation, urbanism, sustainability, science, technology and the environment. She is the editor of the Chevy Chase Patch, a local news website for Chevy Chase, Md.
